The Launching of Titan TV (T TV for short)
First of all, let me say I'm sorry I can't be with you today. I've picked up a sore throat and temperature and don't want to share any germs with you. You are in good hands with Mr. Boyd.
I realize your next step is to show your Silent Film project to the class. We will do that when I get back, most likely on Wednesday. In the meantime, I want to get you started on our next exciting Project: Titan TV!
We are going to create our own TV show. It will be a variety show, meaning that it will consist of lots of small shows. Think 60 Minutes, but we will have more than just news stories. Our show will have a host (or hosts) who will introduce a variety of episodes. We will have news about Skyline, but also music videos, drama, comedy, maybe a reality show or soap opera! Our show will air on KDOL, the district's TV station.
I would like you to study what goes on at a typical TV station. I would like to ask you to read this article first: from the National Association of Broadcasters. It will give you some ideas of the type of jobs that people working in the industry hold.
In my absence, I need for you to write me a letter. After you finish, email it to me at: mark.frey@skylinehs.org. In your letter (which needs to be one full page - 250 words minimum, I want you to pitch me at least two ideas of shows that you would like to be involved in. Imagine we are putting on a show every week, each consisting of a variety of interesting topics. What would you like to see? If you were going to tune in to this station, what would entertain you? Be very specific and try to persuade me that your ideas are worth producing. Be creative. Be bold in your story ideas. If you want to include some images in your letter, feel free.
This should be worked on in class. Talk to each other and share ideas. You will only receive credit if Mr. Boyd tells me that you were really working on this during class. If you don't finish in class, you may email it to me in the evening. Remember, if you are not seriously working on this in class, you will not get credit for this assignment. Good luck!!
