Creating a Sense of Suspense

After listening to Alfred Hitchcock, I'm sure you are ready to try some suspenseful camera work out on your own. Here's the guidelines:
  1. First, read this article about how Hitchcock used suspense.

  2. Work with up to three other people and sit and talk to each other about how you could create a sense of suspense visually, using only the camera and no dialogue.

  3. Think it through completely before starting to shoot. You haven't learned to edit yet, so you will have to meticulously plan your shots to get them in the right order.

  4. It doesn't have to be a full fledged story...just try to capture a sense of anticipation and suspense visually. It does need to make sense, however.

  5. Apply the steady camera shots you've been learning.
