Practice Editing Project #1 Your project is to start a new sequence and then edit your own version of the music video using the clips contained within the folder. The basic steps are as follows:
- Double-click on the Final Cut Pro project within the music video project folder.
- Click on File > New > Sequence.
- Name the sequence with your name.
- Double-click on your new sequence. Make sure that the timeline now has your name on it.
- Put your music track in it's own tracks.
- Render (if necessary) by clicking on Sequence > Render.
- Change your view of the audio tracks to the wave view by holding down the three keys, apple, option, and "w."
Place your markers to the beat.
- Type the "m" key to make a marker. Hold down the shift key and then click "m" to move from one marker to the next (to go down the time line).
- If you need to go up the time line from marker to marker, hold down the alt key and click "m."
- If you need to delete your markers, hold down the apple key and click the tilde key (the key in the upper left corner directly below the escape key.)
- Lock your music tracks.
- Look through the clips and make your editing decisions about which to use in which order. Remember that you want to make your edits to match the markers you made earlier.
- Set your first in point ("i") and your first out point ("o"). Drag the clip directly to the right to make an insert edit.
- Save your work after each edit.
- Remember that to remove in and out points, hold down the "alt" key and then click "i" and "o."
- Continue editing until you have finished.
- Add transitions as needed.
- Add titles.
- Call me for check-off when complete.
