The Interactive Notebook

Part of this class involves creating what we call the "interactive notebook." It is a little different from what you have traditionally thought of as a notebook. This notebook is half for writing and half for illustrating. I will be giving you regular assignments to create within your notebook. We will be adding to it for the whole year. You will find that it will be something you will want to keep forever!

Starting in our next class session, bring in a single spiral ringed notebook to class each day. They are cheap and will serve as your notebook for the rest of the semester. Do not use this notebook for any other class. I will be collecting them twice per marking period. The notebooks will be graded every marking period according to completeness, quality, organization, and visual appeal. Thirty percent of your grade will be based on the notebook.

Bring in a set of different colored pens and pencils each day. A glue stick would be helpful.

Over the weekend, create an inside cover that illustrates some aspect of filmmaking.

Immediately skip the first ten pages. We will turn these into a table of contents later.

When you open the notebook, you will see a left side and a right side. The right side will be used for class notes, discussion notes, reading notes, and handouts. The left side is reserved for reorganizing information in creative ways, expressing opinions and feelings, and exploring new ideas. The right side is the work side. The left side is the play side.

Part of your grade will be based on neatness and organization!
