The Narrative Film Project
Here are the guidelines for the narrative short film project. The rules are fairly simple:
Your film needs to be 3-5 minutes in length. You may include dialogue. Think of this as similar to the Silent film project we did earlier, but now you may include dialogue. You will need a script. It will be aired on local TV, so make it something you are proud of and happy to show to the world.
First Stage: Preproduction
Each person in the class must write a script using Celtx software. Before you begin writing, take a look at this
presentation about screenwriting.
We will spend time in class learning how to use this exciting software, which by the way is free and can be downloaded on your home computer from the
Celtx website.
You will receive a different grade for your screenplay.
Here's a link to an example screenplay for
The Godfather.
Due Date for completed Screenplay: Thursday, March 20
Next, you will pitch your ideas on Friday, March 21. We will green light projects that look do-able. We will work in teams.
Production
Starting Monday you will shoot your film. The entire project has to be completing filmed and edited by Friday, April 4th.
