Career Exploration Using Kuder Navigator

Kuder Navigator is a website authorized by the Oakland Schools to help you learn about the types of careers you might be interested in pursuing. We are going to do a variety of projects using this website.

Kudor Project Number One: Assessment

Create an account and do the three assessments. These assessments are designed to measure the types of activities you like. Completion of these three assessments is necessary before going onto project two.

Kudor Project Number Two

In this project, you will dive in and explore a possible two career choices (jobs). These choices might be within one career area (computer programmer, web designer, hardware engineer), or they could be completely different (banker, actor, chef). Remember, you are not committing yourself to actually wind up working in one of these fields, you simply are exploring what these careers are about.

Prepare a presentation using Keynote (Apples PowerPoint) or Flash. You will use Kuder and any other resources to do your research. Your presentation needs to include the following information about each of your three jobs:

1.Description of the job. What does this person do exactly?

2.What kind of education does this job require? How high a degree is required? List three colleges/universities/or programs that specialize in preparing people to work in this field.

3.Does the job require "on the job training"?

4. What is the employment outlook for this job? Is it hard or easy to get?

5. What are typical starting salaries for this job? How much can you make after working there for a number of years?

6. What are the benefits (health insurance, retirement, etc.) for this job?

After you have researched the two jobs and found the answers to these questions, put together a slide show with pictures on each slide (or page). Keep each slide free of clutter and make it attractive and readable from a distance.

You will be presenting this on Final day.
