The Growing Up in Oakland Project
Essential Question: How Can I Tell the Story of What it's Like to Grow Up in Oakland?
In this project, you will start by writing (with the help of your English teacher) a three minute autobiographical piece about your experiences growing up in Oakland. If you didn't spend your whole childhood in Oakland, you can use the city in which you did grow up.
What was it like for you? Share some of your experiences about growing up. You should include information about your family, friends, the neighborhoods you grew up in, even pets (if you like).
In the second stage of the project, you will assemble pictures and an audio track that we will record here in the studio. We will use animation of the still pictures (I will show you how). Collect pictures and scan them or bring them here to scan.
Your final product will be displayed publicly, and you will need to obtain permissions from anyone who is in your video. We will also be uploading the project at various stages to obtain feedback from industry professionals.
The due date for the completion of this project is September 30th.

Grading Rubric for this project.
Save your project in one particular folder in the Digital Film Desktop.
You will need to learn about keyframing and compositing to do this project. I have created a sub-project for this main project that you will do this first week. Here is a link to the
Keyframing and Compositing project.
