The 321 Project
Here are the guidelines for the short film project. The rules are fairly simple:
1.It must be exactly
three minutes long.
2.It must have ony
two actors.
3.It must be filmed at
one location.
No cursing.
First Stage: Pre-Production
Each person in the class must write a 321 script using Celtx software. Before you begin writing, take a look at this presentation about screenwriting.
We will spend time in class learning how to use this exiting software, which by the way is free and can be downloaded on your home computer from the Celtx website.
You will each receive a grade for your own screenplay. You will be able to write a rough draft in your English class with Mr. Brown.
Second Stage: Production
After each of you has finished writing your script, we will make "pitches" in which you attempt to "sell" your idea to actually have your movie produced. A panel of "big shot producers" will then decide which of the class's screenplays will be produced. We will then form groups to actually make the films from beginning to end.
Third Stage Stage: Post-Production
After the films have been finished, each of you will have the chance to edit your own version of the film you worked on. We will have a showing of the films and then decide which ones (with the help of our judges) will be aired on TV with the help of KDOL TV.
In the course of this project, you will receive a variety of grades:
1. Your script (both in Digital Film and in English)
2. Your pitch presentation of your script.
3. Your production as part of a film crew.
4. Your edited version of the movie.
5. Final presentation of the finished product.
