(1) Now that you have read the summary of the types of active listening, you need to practice observing it in real life. Watch two people who are having a conversation (you can watch two actual people in a conversation, or you can watch a film). Observe how they listen to each other. Write down what you see. (2) Now try practicing several types of active listening with at least two different people. Be natural. This shouldn't seem forced or unusual although it might feel a little odd at first. What happened when you tried active listening? Did the person you were talking to respond differently? How? |
